Colijn, Henk

Biography

Hendrik O. Colijn has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Drexel University and a Master of Science in Applied Physics from Cornell University.  He came to The Ohio State University in 1982 after five years at Xerox Corporation in Rochester, NY. 

At Ohio State, he has managed the Campus Electron Optics Facility (CEOF) until 2013, where he oversaw TEM, FIB, XRD, SEM, and Scanning Auger analyses. Henk was instrumental in the creation and development of CEMAS. As Assistant Director of Operations at CEMAS, Henk provides overall supervision of the day-to-day operations of the facility. He is responsible for assuring optimal use of the facility, managing and monitoring preventative and service maintenance contracts on the equipment, and facilitating compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and requirements.. 

With over 40 years of experience in the field, Henk advises and collaborates in many different analytical techniques with particular emphasis on TEM, EDX, and XRD analyses and equipment. He also enjoys teaching the Practical Transmission Electron Microscopy Lab and Principles of the Characterization of Materials in the Materials Science and Engineering department.
