Dr. Hanna Cho joined MAE as Assistant Professor in Autumn, 2015. Previously, she was Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University (TTU) for two years since 2013. She earned BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Yonsei University, South Korea in 2002 and 2004, respectively. Then, Dr. Cho received a PhD in Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2012, where she was a postdoctoral researcher working with Prof. William P. King for about a year before joining TTU. Dr. Cho is a recipient of DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Project Agency) Young Faculty Award and Director's Fellowship.
Dr. Cho has strong experimental and theoretical expertise in both fields of micro/nanotechnology and advanced nonlinear dynamics. Her research group, Micro/Nano Multiphysical Dynamics Laboratory (MNMDL), investigates various multiphysical dynamics problems at micro/nanoscales, broadly divided into three main areas: (i) exploiting nonlinear characteristics in micro/nano-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS), (ii) advancing the state-of-art AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) techniques to achieve better material characterizations beyond topography, and (iii) applying the capabilities of advanced AFM and microsystems for various material science researches.
